combining form of L. cruciātus, cruciate a., as in cruciato-complicate, ‘applied by Kirby to the wings of insects which are at the same time crossed and folded, as those of the Pentatoma’; cruciato-incumbent, ‘applied to the wings of insects when they are crossed but not folded, and when they cover the abdomen, as in the Apis’ (Syd. Soc. Lex.).
